SMMC News is preparing to introduce a new part of its digital platform with the launch of SMMC News Comics, an original illustrated newspaper-style series scheduled to debut September 18. The project expands SMMC News beyond its traditional news coverage while creating another way for audiences to engage with original company characters and stories.

The new digital comic series will feature short, accessible stories told through a classic newspaper comic-strip format. Each edition will combine colorful illustrations, character-driven storytelling and themes that can connect with children, families and longtime followers of The Shareiff E Worrell Company.

Mackk Cat and his friends will be among the familiar characters appearing throughout the series. Through humorous and meaningful everyday situations, the comics will explore subjects such as friendship, sportsmanship, confidence, learning from mistakes and understanding one another.

The launch also represents a broader creative direction for SMMC News. While the division remains focused on delivering original local, national, world, entertainment and sports coverage, the new comic format gives the brand another way to build its digital identity and create content that can be enjoyed outside of traditional news reporting.

SMMC News Comics is also designed with social media audiences in mind. The newspaper-inspired format will allow each edition to be easily shared digitally while maintaining a recognizable visual identity that audiences can associate with the growing SMMC News brand.

The first edition of SMMC News Comics is scheduled to arrive September 18, 2026. Additional editions, featured characters and future comic themes will be announced as SMMC News continues expanding its original digital content.
